Sometimes it is a little fun to stray from the typical design post. Do any of you readers watch "Up All Night"? It is one of those shows that has gotten funnier and funnier. Perhaps it is because it mimics a similar stage of life that we are in right now, but I find Maya Rudolf, Christina Applegate, and Will Arnett to be really funny!
There is nothing better than relaxing at the end of the day with a yummy treat and something to laugh at. Other funny shows....."New Girl", "Happy Endings", and sometimes "Are You There, Chelsea?"
What funny shows are you watching?

Bathroom Furniture?
If you are lucky enough to have a large enough bathroom to have extra furniture, what would you have or would you at all? Admittedly, I remember watching an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians (probably TMI) and noticed they had like a full lounge area in the bathroom. It struck me as completely odd. But then I thought, it might be kind of nice to keep your spouse company when one is getting ready. It's kind of like a TV above the tub....I've sort of come around to the idea after my Dad installed one in their master bath and saw how much he loved it (well I don't cringe at the idea, although I wouldn't put one in my home).
From a design standpoint, I'm all about filling an empty space with something interesting or beautiful, whether it's a piece of furniture, art, chair, or other object. I just don't know about an entire sofa or chaise lounge.
So are you a "Please sit and stay a while?" or "Get the job done" kind of bathroom?

new Lonny!
I'm sure you all have scoured the pages of the latest Lonny Mag by now. I finally had a few quiet moments over the weekend to read the articles and absorb all of the photos. Here are a few things that caught my eye:
Handmade, women-made pillows by Oimei co. VERY reasonable prices, and you are supporting a good cause.
Tobi Tobin's Own Malibu Beach retreat
Rustic Canyon home designed by Hilary Thomas
Anna Burke's (she works with the fabulous Celerie Kemble) West Village Apartment shared with her sister

Cost Plus, what?!?
So it's probably been about 4 years since I last walked into a Cost Plus. I have nothing against them...you know I love me a good bargain...but I felt like they were stuck in the same 'global-feel' rut for a while. That, and I didn't live near one anymore. This past week I was running a few errands and happened to be near a Cost Plus. I popped in for a quick gander and was pleasantly surprised!
Recognize this? I love it and am thinking of it for our family room.
Yes, Restoration Hardware makes a similar one for more than double the cost!
Also loved these white vases.....
which are very popular when decorating mantles or credenzas. Best used either in clusters, or intertwined in a bookshelf display.
Like this bath accessory dish....the one on the left...for jewelry or coins on a vanity.
Also liked these towels
which are very similar to a couple of towels from anthro
Point is, check it out. If nothing else you can always grab a bag or two or yummy aussi licorice :)

weekend weather and marble love
After a week of being cooped up with sick kids, 70 degree weather was just what I needed. We played outside, I went for a great run, and we played croquet in the park.
Here I am walking to church. Obviously I am still feeling the peach thing.
You know what else I'm loving? This new marbled trend.
A lot of great paper stores make a marbled paper you can frame as art (like this one from paper source). It is less committal than wallpapering a whole wall, but similar effect.
Hope you had a great weekend and are avoiding sickness!

Peach
I'm torn. I love peach....but mostly for clothes, jewelry, flowers, the color of a summertime drink, etc.... There is such a fine line on how to use it in decorating. I think a great peach wall color would be a fun and bright alternative to white, cream or grey. It works best opposite shades of blues and greens; Or worked into a neutral color palette of fresh bright white and grey. The find line is that it can easily turn into a bad 80s beach rental. You know you have all stayed in one of those...I did almost every summer at the OBX!

How about you? Any luck in decorating with peach?
