Zara Home

Did you know that Zara Home has officially launched in the US?  They have been selling overseas and I have been waiting! (Also waiting for H&M home!)  Anyways, take a look at Zara Home's website....I believe they are offering free shipping in the US, so you really can't go wrong :)  They have a ton of great accessories, linens, and tableware....with a lot of range.  Here are a few that caught my eye:

Thom Filicia's Lake House

The latest House Beautiful just arrived on my doorstep, and it was a real treat to catch a glimpse of Thom Filicia's Lake Scaneateles home in upstate New York.  I love lake houses, and do I dare say that I possibly love them more than beach houses?!?  I love the cozy, rustic, americana feel that they have to them.  And that is exactly what Filicia's getaway embodies. So without further adieu.....enjoy!

Trunks

I think you all know (anyone out there???) that I have an affinity for trunks.  A while back I was on the hunt for one and my Mom found one at an antique shop. I had her buy it without even seeing it, and now it is a storage chest for dress up clothes in my oldest son's room.

Well today me and the kids were driving to the gym (finally!) and we passed a junk pile on a neighbor's corner.  I stopped because I'm still looking to fill my house with more, and saw this:

It's perfect and it was free!!!  The inside doesn't smell at all and is in great vintage shape.  My kids first thought I stole it, but then I explained that I'm just taking some else's trash.  Hm.  Still sounds weird.  But people around here just stick stuff they don't want anymore at the end of their driveway for trash pick-up.  Anyways, I'm psyched.  I've considered adding casters to make a coffee table, stacking smaller ones onto to make a nightstand, or placing it under a console table with blanket storage....aka adding some junk in my trunk  (I couldn't resist).  In any case I love my new treasured find and wanted to leave you with some trunk inspiration.

Coffee table: interesting conversational piece and excellent storage!

Love the side table look.  This one propped a tray onto for functionality

Rather than storage boxes or baskets, use suitcases

Foot of a bed for a more masculine look

Fall Cozy (post 1)

The weather is teasing me.  The air is beginning to really cool off at night (really cool, like in the morning we all snuggle under blankets and put on our sweatshirts).  But then in the afternoon it gets up in the 70s.  Regardless, I am embracing the changing of the seasons and have been simmering orange peels and cinnamon sticks on the stove and pulling out the blankets. (And I call this Post 1 because I am sure there will be many more Fall-inspired posts in the future!)

So I've been inspired by all things fall.  When I think of changing out your room for the autumn season,  I think cozy, equestrian, british library feel.  Here are a few things that have caught my eye and fall under that category.
Land's End

Target

modern50

Pottery Barn

QVC

Restoration Hardware
(where else for great leather seating?!?)

There is so much great fall decor out there- just keep your eyes open!!

Ariane Goldman's Hampton Home

Have you flipped through the recent September Lonny Issue?  As always it is filled with pin-worthy inspirational photos.  I wanted to highlight my favorite from the issue.

I fell in love with fashion designer Ariane Goldman's light-filled Hampton Home.   The overall color scheme of the home is an airy white, pale blues and pinks accented by dark wood ceiling beams.  In the bedrooms she uses a playful mix of madelin weinrib and john robshaw textiles.  The home itself feels lived-in and comfortable yet chic and well-thought out.  Not bad for a weekend retreat!

'The basic white tee'

Everyone should have a good basic white tee in their closet....it goes with everything....denim, leather, a pretty skirt.  Just as a basic white tee can go with everything, so can a white wall.  We have been renters the past however many years and the last 3 places we've lived in have had stark white walls, not beige.  At first I was bummed that we haven't had the opportunity to paint our walls a color, but I've kind of embraced the white.  Like I said, it works with everything.  Looks serene and beautiful in a bedroom or bathroom, can go country, formal, modern, rustic.

Don't be discouraged by the inability to paint your walls, embrace it!

Stone Barns Farm

This past weekend, the boys and I just enjoyed having Derek (husband and dad) around.  We got to spend a lot of quality time together before the school year and work gets too crazy.  One of the places on my bucket list was to check out Stone Barns Farm.  The architecture of the 'barn' was a-mazing! So beautiful! They also had the cutest little gift shop.  Hand-made, natural and rustic items filled the shelves.  Of course  I snapped a few photos for you to enjoy.

If you live in the New York vicinity, you should check it out!  Stone Barns Farm in Pocantico Hills.
